Eastern Avenue Press Release

Eastern Avenue Press Release

One of the greatest challenges for West Georgia Habitat for Humanity is acquiring land to build Habitat homes. The generosity of Byron and Linda Madden provided a donation of property on Eastern Avenue to help additional families in need of simple, decent housing afford a home of their own. The donation provides enough land to accommodate four new homes for the ministry.

Business and community leaders have also provided their support for the project. Brad Cole has generously donated services to clear the property and grade the lot and street; and Henry McBrayer has provided surveying service for the construction layout. Jerry Driver of Driver & Associates has dedicated years of service to West Georgia Habitat for Humanity and is overseeing the project. Additionally, Vulcan Materials, LaFarge Aggregates and Travis Hill Trucking have provided gift-in-kind donations to assist with the street development.

Eastern Avenue Press ReleaseThe first home will be built in partnership with a mother and her four children. The $50,000 sponsorship for this home is being provided through the 2008 Building with Bows special event and the Carroll County Schools Youth United project. Additional funding for house sponsorship is needed to complete the other homes.

Building With Bows

The 2008 Building with Bows: 3D Archery Tournament and Blue Jean Ball raised over $86,000 for the housing ministry.

West Georgia Habitat for Humanity Provides Homes for Two Families this Fall

The congregation of Midway Macedonia Baptist Church brought to reality a dream of Pastor Todd Wright by funding and building a Habitat home in Carrollton. West Georgia National Bank donated the lot on which the home was built. West Georgia Habitat for Humanity board members and members of Midway Macedonia, Jerry Driver and Charles Griffin, led the project. Congregation members provided monetary contributions, gift-in-kind donations, and their time to complete the home. A recognition ceremony was held at the church on November 19, 2006.

Haralson County communities joined together to build the first Habitat home in Waco. West Georgia Habitat was welcomed into the community with donations of materials and volunteer labor. Numerous churches made financial contributions to fund the home. The effort was led by First United Methodist Church of Bremen. The home was dedicated on December 10th.
